Slice of Heaven: Slice 10 – Baby Cheeks

You know, I never get tired of kissing my daughter on the cheek.  As I was putting her to bed tonight I held her as she was drinking her milk and kissed her cheek repeatedly.  It was so soft, squishy, and round.  But every day her cheeks disappear a little.  I’ve seen it happen in my son, even though he still has a little left, I still remember when he had the chipmunk cheeks too.  I kiss my babies every day, many times a day, but I love kisses on the cheek.  As I was putting my son to bed tonight I said “Look, Daddy’s smooth, can I have a kiss?”  I had shaved today before I left the house and was still sporting the smooth face that only lasts a few hours for me.  He leaned forward and gave me a little pucker right on my cheek.  It was so light it almost tickled and his lips were cold, probably from the cold water he had just been drinking.  I couldn’t help but give him a kiss on the cheek in return and think of how he has changed.  They really do grow up so fast, and one day I’ll kiss both of them on the cheek as they leave my home, but for now, I’ll keep kissing my babies cheeks.
