Slice of Heaven: Slice 12 – DIY Steady Cam
So over the past month I’ve been combining designs and compiling info on the best way to make a “Steady Cam” for my 5D Mark II. The camera takes such amazing video that I felt it was a crying shame not to start using it. So, I made a design, had some parts machined, used some off the shelf items and made my own. Today was the “maiden voyage” and it worked like a charm! I was so pumped to see how great it worked and can’t wait to start using it for all kinds of fun stuff. I just got back from Aldea Wedding Venue and can’t wait to show you the footage. I’ll take some shots of the rig and the results soon. Today was a long awaited pay day moment for all the work I’ve put in to get this going. So this was my slice for today, hard work and dilligence that paid off big time. I love it. I could have bought something, but heck, anyone can buy something, there is a certain satisfaction with making something with your own two hands. Now begins the video era at Christopher Leigh Studios. ROCK ON!
I love solving problems and creating something from nothing.
