365 Slices of Heaven

Today is January 1, 2011.  Now starts the proverbial “new year’s resolutions” and the entire world is out to be better and do something more.  I’m not immune to the need for making something better of myself but this year I’ve decided to do something differnt.  So… instead of having a long list of goals and “to do’s” I’ve decided to keep a journal, an online journal and share it with you.

My journal will consist of 365 days of Heaven on Earth.  I’m a fast mover, fast thinker, always looking for an edge and a better way to do something.  Many times in my haste I fail to see the Heaven that lies all around me every day.  As a photographer I caputer a slice of heaven for others on their wedding day, allowing them to relive it any time they wish.  Good times and bad.  Thick and Thin.  Richer and Poorer.

So with this journal I hope to be able to relive my slice of heaven any time I want to.  In fact, by the year’s end, I’ll have 365 pieces that make up my heavenly pie.   I can’t wait to look back on 2011 and see all the good in each day as it unfolds befor my eyes.

Here’s to 2011 and 365 slices of heaven.

Slice 1:  Oranges – Picking them with my family.

Today I went with my wife and two little ones out to pick oranges.  It was “cold” here in Phoenix (at 50 degrees) but hey, you get adjusted to the climate when it’s warm and there is a reason I live in the “valley of the sun.”  I had such a great time seeing my little girl all bundled up and watching my son run up and down the grove saying “Daddy watch how fast I can run!”  I wish I had that kind of energy!  My wife was like a kid in a candy store and even convinced me to allow her a “ride” on my shoulders so she could get the ones at the top.  She can get me to do anything!

I tried on of the oranges while we were there.  It was OK for taste, but it was sweeter than any other orange for memories because it was the first time I’ve picked oranges with my little family.   I wish I had the photos ready but I had to add a new hard drive to my system so I can’t put them up today… so I’ll have to do that tomorrow!
